The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) is dedicated to promoting justice, fairness, and accountability across the state. We ensure laws are enforced in line with constitutional principles while safeguarding the rights and freedoms of every citizen.

In its bid to ensure the sustenance of a safe and clean environment, the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, OYRLEA, Chairperson, Hon. Justice Aderonke Adekemi Aderemi (Rtd.) on Monday, emphasised the need to intensify clean up of the State’s Capital Metropolis.

Commenting after a unanimous resolution on a ‘Clean-Up’ pre-enforcement meeting held with relevant Government Officials in the State, at the conference room of the OYRLEA, Justice Aderemi stated that, ‘OYRLEA’, in its core responsibilities must ensure a sane, clean and safer environment at all times hence the need to embark on an ‘on the spot’ assessment tour of the Destitute Home at Akinyele Local Government Area, Ibadan, ahead of the random enforcement exercise that will comb round the city of Ibadan from Tuesday.

Justice Aderemi added that the Enforcement on Environmental Sanitation Regulations and other related laws had been on-going but enforcement to uphold the Rule of Law needed to be intensified. “Our environment ought to be welcoming and safe for visitors thus appealing to all and sundry, this has always been the utmost desire of our people-oriented Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde” she stated further.

Justice Aderemi, whom after the pre-enforcement meeting, alongside the Executive Assistant to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on the Rule of Law Enforcement, CP Sonubi Ayodele Olufemi (Rtd.), Chairman, Environmental Task Force, DCP Francis Ojomo (Rtd.), went on a facility tour of the Destitutes Home, to ensure effective compliance during the enforcement exercise.

The E.A., Rule of Law Enforcement, CP Sonubi raised concern on the incessant returns of these beggars to the roadside, constituting Environmental nuisance and defacing the society.

One of the Destitutes, a spokesperson and secretary to the ‘Oba Aro’, Sodiq Yusuf, elucidates on the activities of the Destitutes. He opined that the public assistance, humanitarian gestures and supports be diverted to the home and not to beggars on the street, this act, if considered, will compel them to return back to Base, he said.

He further highlights the critical need for basic resources like food, shelter, educational opportunities for children, medical attention and healthcare, as well as skill acquisition and protection.

The rehabilitation, empowerment, and improvement of their basic living conditions with a supportive and loving environment that secures protection
will be taken up by the State Government through the designated MDAs, Justice Aderemi responded.

Present earlier at the meeting were, the Chairman, Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, OYRTMA, Maj. Adesagba Adekoya, the Oyo State Waste Management Authority, OYOWMA Chairman, Engr. Afolabi Akeem Adewale, among others.
