The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has led an Enforcement Taskforce Team on Thursday 24th, July, 2025, to Ijaye in response to a petition regarding the invasion of Ijaye Farm Settlement by Herdsmen.
The team, comprising the Oyo State Joint Security Task Force, Operation Burst, Environmental Task Force, Ministry of Agric Officials, Amotekuns, and designated OYRLEA members, conducted the enforcement exercise
During the exercise, the team apprehended cattle grazing on farmland and arrested some herders.
Mallam Abubakar, who had been previously arrested and prosecuted for similar offences was re-arrested as a ‘Second-Time’ offender.
The offenders have been taken to Court for prosecution.
Some of the cows that were also apprehended on the farm have been taken to the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
This enforcement exercise is a direct response to the petition brought to OYRLEA’s office regarding the invasion of Ijaye Farm Settlement by Herdsmen.
The Chairperson, Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, Honourable Justice Aderonke Adekemi Aderemi in her remarks towards the exercise said that the Oyo State Government remains committed to ensuring maximum compliance with the Anti-Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation Laws, and other related, in the State.
Speaking on the protection of FarmLands and Settlements, Rtd. Justice Aderemi reiterated the Government’s commitment to securing the settlements, ensuring food protection, most importantly, safety of lives.
She urged farmers to promptly report any further incidents of herdsmen invasion to the Authority, thus, enabling swift action and timely intervention and ensuring compliance with the laws.
